My inspiration has always been how a photograph can stop a moment in time. I have ideas of what I want to capture, but 95% of the time I don’t actually get that. The idea evolves and the image begins to open up to something completely beyond what I expected. There is a challenge to create movement, sometimes showing what the naked eye cannot see.
I have learned that flour can be a powerful tool to enhance movement. There is an unpredictable quality to white flour which can extend movement and create a stunning image. My friend Dawn was game to help me experiment and even though she was drenched in flour at the end of the shoot, we had a absolute blast stepping out of the norm to create expression in movement.
