I truly believe that people come into our life for a reason. Some may stay in your life for a while, some for a brief second, but there is a reason they come into your life.
Uyen lives in Berkley, California and she found my photography through my trail/nature blog TheTrailGirl.com. She saw how I took self portraits in beautiful locations and wanted me to take her portraits in Boulder.
She decided to take a risk, to trust me to take her portraits. She just beat breast cancer and realized that life is too short to let it pass her by. She wanted me to capture how beautiful and strong she felt at this time in her life.
We met at the Boulder Dushnanbe Tearoom. Immediately, it was like I had reconnected with my long lost friend. Uyen was so easy to talk with and her real zest for life beamed forth. We had an cold but gorgeous photo shoot. Then, a few months later, she asked me to go to Hawaii to take her portraits there as well.
Here’s to an amazing lady, who taught me that this moment right now is too precious to waste. She reminded me to take chances, be bold, and ask for what I want. Hopefully you can see from these photos her essence. She is a pillar of strength and resilience with the lightness and ease of a butterfly.
